Description
Syngonium podophyllum ‘Moonshine’ (often described with terms like “Dwarf Lush”) is a striking, compact arrowhead vine featuring symmetrical, silvery-green to almost white leaves with light green margins. Native to tropical rainforests, it is a highly sought-after, low-maintenance houseplant that thrives in warm, humid indoor environments.
Care Guide & Quick Facts
- Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Morning or evening sun is fine, but harsh direct sun will scorch and bleach the leaves. It can adapt to lower light areas, but the silvery coloration may fade.
- Water: Water thoroughly and allow the top 50% of the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Because of their susceptibility to root rot, these plants require an airy, well-draining aroid soil mix.
- Temperature & Humidity: They prefer warm temperatures above 60°F (16°C) and do not tolerate cold drafts. Moderate to high humidity (55%–65%) will promote lush, healthy foliage.
- Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, liquid houseplant fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the spring and summer growing seasons.
- Growth Habits: While young plants form a lush, bushy mound, they naturally vine and climb as they mature. You can either let them trail from a hanging basket or provide a moss pole to encourage larger, more mature foliage.
